Hideaki Anno Exhibition @ Osaka

I found out from a coworker that the Art Museum at Abeno Harukas was having a exhibit showcasing Hideaki Anno's works. He is famously known for creating the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, but the exhibit also showcases his early contributions to animation for some Ghibli Studios movies, his lesser known animations, and his current contributions for Ultraman, Kamen Rider and Godzilla.

The entry fee to the exhibit is 1900 yen. It is available until June 19th, 2022. You can take photos inside the exhibit for most of the things there. Videos are a no go, and a few collectables are off limits for photos. Pretty standard for most exhibits here.

There's audio guides you can purchase and the exhibit also has some English descriptions.

I also noticed there were a few staff inside who can speak English (they wore name badges), so the exhibit has some English support.

During busier times, the exhibit hands out time tickets for entry (divided by 10 minute blocks). I went one hour before closing of the exhibit, so I was able to enter immediately with my time ticket. But there were still a lot of people inside even without timed entry. I still enjoyed the exhibit though. There was lots to look at and if you like looking at art drafts and storyboards, I think you will love the exhibit even more.

Here's a few things I took photos of:

The exhibit is actually quite sizeable and had a lot of his arts drafts on display. I don't particular enjoy looking at them, so I just quickly took some photos, scanned through a few of them and went on my way.

There were also quite a lot of people, so I decided it's not really worth it to linger.

I particularly love this draft of the NERV logo they had displayed at the exhibit:

I was more interested in the models and memorabilia there, which they also had a quite a bit of. Most of them were hidden away in glass displays, but there were a few that were available to see not behind glass:

A lot of the older posters of different animations he contributed to were also on display:

Finally, the gift shop and the displays of the most iconic characters! I bought some EVA stickers that were limited to the shop of this exhibit only. They also had some EVA store goods, Godzilla, Ultraman and Kamen Rider goods for sale too.
